Minit Money is a mobile app that enables users to send money from South Africa to Nigeria in minutes. There is a simple registration process that only requires your SA ID or Nigerian passport number. Minit Money is available to anyone with a smart phone (iPhone or Android operating systems). Simply download the app, register with your phone number and ID number and you are good to go.

It costs R50 per send, no matter how much you are sending. Minit Money offers an excellent exchange rate (updated every few minutes based on market rates).

  • Download the Minit Money app from the App Store or iStore.
  • Register your account with your Nigerian Passport, Nigerian Identity or South African Identity Number.
  • Add your recipient’s banking details.
  • Click ‘Send’ and select a contact from your recipient list, enter the desired amount you would like to send.
  • Generate and accept a quote to create a barcode.
  • Show the bar-code to the teller at any store supporting Pay@ and tell them you want to ‘pay-a-bill’.
  • Pay at any of these supermarkets nearest to you and money will be sent to your recipient in Nigeria in under a minute.

  • If registration fails, ensure that your name matches the exact name on your ID document
  • A OTP (one time PIN) text message will be sent to each device during registration, only devices with SIM cards will receive SMS, thus WiFi-only devices (such as iPads) will not work
  • The cell phone number entered during registration needs to belong to the device in use
  • Not all phones can support the app. Please make a note of phone models not compatible with the app and submit the details to our customer service team
  • Please ensure that you enter the correct banking details of your recipient. Recipients with incorrect details will not receive your transfer
